Client Evaluations

I'll write a longer review when I have time.
The Swann DVR I had just died soon after practically 2 years. And I am so happy it did (read my review on the Swann DVR)
I have had this DVR about a month now and I'm blown away by how much improved it is.
I have not set up the online access but, so I will update my critique when I do that. But in each and every other way this DVR is greater than the Swann.
- I was really shocked to to see the picture was sharper than the Swann on my monitor. Which seemed strange considering the fact that it has the same cameras.
- The playback sharpness is A lot SHARPER on this DVR. This is given that the compression strategy applied ought to me Considerably Superior. The reside feed and the playback appear the similar truly, you cannot even tell it is a recording. Even on the the Swann's highest setting the playback looked like garbage.
- This DVR comes with a mouse! So making use of the method is a lot like working with a laptop or computer. You have cursor on the screen icons, which is certainly, excellent.
- the remote on this one basically operates. On the Swann you had to hold the remote about a foot away from the DVR. And even then you might possibly be rapid forwarding a 2x speed, hit pause and have the speed go to 3x, hit quit and the speed would go up to 4x.... genuinely the the Swann was a piece of garbage.
- The search is Significantly far better on the Defender. You can check only 1 camera at a time, rather of having to review every single camera.
- The record solutions are Considerably Substantially better. For Every camera you can set it to record all the time, motion, or not at all. On the Swann, you have not selection - how you set 1 is how they are all set. On the Defender, you can set them each and every individually.
- The motion detector really Operates on the Defender. I assume it has some sort of pre roll. When you playback at times there will be no motion for a second (and you may feel the motion detector was set off by mistake), then an individual will suddenly enter the frame - so as I stated, it have to have some type of pre-roll function built in. On the Swann, in some cases you would only see a person just after they were leaving the frame, you would see a shoulder, but no way to identify the individual, even even though they had walked down the hall 15 feet straight towards the camera!
- The Defenders Motion detector goes off ONLY WHEN THERE IS MOTION! On the Swann I had to continually tweak the brightness and contrast to maintain the motion detector from going off each and every 10 seconds occasionally. (Actually, not set proper - the motion would go off each ten seconds - in a hall with no windows. Then the florescent bulb in the hall would go out and be replaced, I would have to set it up all more than once more.)
- The Defender still records whilst you are in playback mode! The Swann stops recording in playback mode :(
I certainly could go on, but don't have the time at the moment, just after I set up the remote network access I will finish the assessment.
UPDATE:
Could eight,2011
I forgot till now to finish the overview!
When I originally set up the network access (remotely from my laptop) There was a slight error but I named the tech assistance who helped me put the "a thing" outside the "a thing range" (I forgot precisely what we did) and given that then it has worded flawlessly. I just checked it just after not making use of it for months and I am nonetheless connected! I have not set up use on my iphone but simply because I'm nevertheless operating OS3 and have not updated to OS4. I've been as well lazy to clear all my photos and videos off my telephone. So I'm not certain how the iphone app operates....
This is a terrific machine. I just learned that I can set it to show all 8 cameras but when there is motion in 1 camera it will fill the screen on that camera for ten seconds (or longer if you want to set it that way). This is a nice setting considering that immediately after a while you don't notice movement in the tiny frames. But when suddenly you have 9 squares (only 8 cameras) and the screen jumps to full screen mode - you discover that, so you notice the movement in the frame. Wonderful for when a delivery individual comes to the door and you have headphones on.

great machine!
I am a contractor and have set this up in numerous commercial accounts of mine. Its amazing, minus a handful of conveniently-to-get-made use of-to quirks. Sets up simple, Very Especially intuitive menu. AND... native english tech-savvy support on the market to aid with ANY aspect of operation (The longest I've waited on hold is two minutes..)
